Halloween is just around the corner and you are looking for ideas for a Halloween pizza for this spooky occasion? Look no further, I have some scary inspirations for you!

1. Ghost Pizza

Halloween Pizza_Ghost

How to get rid of the fear of ghosts and spiders? By putting them on a pizza!
With this pizza, you’ll have plenty of crafting fun and it’s also a nice activity for children, as cutting out and shaping are required!

Ingredients (for 1 pizza)

You can use any pizza dough recipe from the blog for the dough, as the preparation is very simple and straightforward.

  • 250 gr pizza dough (equivalent to one dough ball)
  • 140 gr tomato sauce
  • 2 slices of cheese e.g. mozzarella, gouda
  • 1 handful of small black olives

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven at least 1 hour before baking (target temperature should be at least 400 degrees).
  • Using the Halloween cookie cutter*, cut out ghosts from the cheese slices and put them aside.
  • Cut the olives in half and put four halves aside. Thinly slice the remaining halves, as they will serve as the legs of the spiders. You will need a total of six (eight if you want to do it the correct way!) legs per spider. If you have leftovers, you can use them as faces for the ghosts.
  • Prepare a bowl or plate with semola (flour will do the work if necessary).
  • Sprinkle the dough with a little semola (especially on the edges) and take it out of the box with a spatula, put it in the bowl/plate with semola and turn it over.
  • Then place the dough piece on the work surface and shape it by hand: if possible, starting from the center, press the air bubbles towards the edge and shape it into a round pizza, leaving a border. Please do not use a rolling pin, as this will destroy the air bubbles.
  • Spread tomato sauce on the dough.
  • Carefully pull the dough onto the pizza peel.
  • Put the pizza in the oven and bake it for about 90 seconds (a little shorter or longer depending on your own preference and degree of browning).
  • Now place the cheese ghosts and olive spiders on the pizza and bake for a few seconds so that the cheese melts just slightly.
  • And ready is the pizza!

2. Scream Pizza

Halloween Pizza_Scream

I know what you did last summer…. pizza!
Admittedly, the topping for this pizza is a bit exotic and is rather something for the optics 😉 For this Halloween pizza you need as dark a base as possible. I used black Oreo cookies for the topping in a hurry, however, you can get creative and look for other options, such as black tahini or other Asian dark sauces. What you need then is just some artistic skill, because here you have to carve the famous “Scream” face out of cheese – but it’s easier than you think!

Ingredients (for 1 pizza)

You can use any pizza dough recipe from the blog here for the dough, as the preparation is very simple and straightforward.

  • 250 gr pizza dough (equivalent to one dough ball)
  • 16 oreo cookies, crushed
  • 1 slice of cheese e.g. mozzarella, gouda

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven at least 1 hour before baking (target temperature should be at least 400 degrees)
  • Blend the Oreo cookies in a blender or with a hand blender to small crumbs, and put them aside.
  • Google “Scream” face on the internet and carve it into the cheese slice with a small sharp knife.
  • Prepare a bowl or deep plate with semola (flour also works, in case you don’t have semola).
  • Sprinkle the dough with a little semola (especially on the edges) and take it out of the box with a spatula, put it in the bowl/plate with semola and turn it over in it.
  • Then place the dough piece on the work surface and shape it by hand: if possible, starting from the center, press the air bubbles towards the edge and shape it into a round pizza, leaving a border. Please do not use a rolling pin, as this will destroy the air bubbles.
  • Carefully pull dough onto pizza peel.
  • Place dough in oven and bake for about 90 seconds (a little shorter or longer, depending on your own preference and degree of browning).
  • Then spread the cookie crumbs on top of the baked dough, leaving only the edge cut out.
  • Then place the cheese slice in the center of the pizza and bake for a few seconds so that the cheese melts just slightly.
  • And the pizza is ready!

3. Scary pizza fingers

Pizza Fingers

These scary pizza fingers are perfect for a quick snack in between. Matched with a blood… er I mean of course a tomato dip!

Ingredients (for about 24 pizza fingers)

For the dough you can use any pizza dough recipe from the blog here because the preparation is very simple and straightforward.

  • 250 gr pizza dough (equivalent to one dough ball)
  • 1 red bell pepper
  • 140 gr tomato sauce
  • 80 gr grated cheese (e.g. mozzarella or gouda)
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste

Instructions

  • Cut small triangles from the bell pepper, these will serve as “fingernails” later. Put the small triangles aside.
  • Flour the work surface and roll out the pizza dough thinly with a rolling pin.
  • Spread tomato sauce and grated cheese on the dough.
  • Now bake the pizza:
In the household oven: bake the pizza in the preheated oven at 200 degrees for about 15 minutes.
In the pizza oven: bake the pizza in the preheated oven at 400 degrees for about 3 minutes.
  • Then cut the pizza into finger-thick strips and trim the ends of the strips to be slightly pointed.
  • Spread some tomato paste on the pointed ends of each strip, this serves as “glue” for the bell pepper fingernails.
  • Now carefully press the bell pepper triangles onto the places of the pizza fingers with the tomato paste.
  • That’s it, the scary pizza fingers are ready!

4. Spooky pizzette

Spooky pizzette

These spooky pizzette (mini pizzas) are also perfect as a small Halloween bite. The great thing is that you can let your creativity run wild with these pizzette and cover them with all kinds of ingredients! For example, I used Halloween cookie cutters* to create different shapes out of cheese such as ghosts, bats, skulls to top the pizzette. Black olives are also a practical and edible decoration idea: for example, you can make small black spiders from them or use them cut very small as eyes, nose and mouth for the cheese cutters (see picture). With these pizzette, of course, the little ones can also help and let off steam!

Ingredients (for about 8 pizzette)

For the dough you can use any pizza dough recipe from the blog here because the preparation is very simple and straightforward.

  • 250 gr pizza dough (equivalent to one dough ball)
  • 1 red bell pepper
  • 140 gr tomato sauce
  • 80 gr grated cheese (e.g. mozzarella or gouda) or sliced cheese (if you want to cut out the cheese)
  • Optional: black olives

Instructions

  • Flour the work surface and roll out the pizza dough thinly with a rolling pin.
  • Cut out small shapes with a glass.
  • Brush the small shapes with tomato sauce, leaving a border.
  • Now your creativity is needed! You can sprinkle some grated cheese on some pizzettes like I did and then put the black olive spiders on top. Or you can use the Halloween cookie cutters to cut out different shapes from the cheese slices and then place them on the pizzette.
  • Now bake the pizza:
In the household oven: bake the pizza in the preheated oven at 200 degrees for about 10 minutes.
In the pizza oven: bake the pizza in the preheated oven at 400 degrees for about 3 minutes.
  • Small tip: in order that the cheese, which you have cut out with the Halloween cookie cutters, still keeps its shape, I recommend to put the cheese on the pizzette only 2-3 min before the end of the baking time.
  • That’s it, the spooky pizzette are ready!

5. Cobweb pizza

Cobweb Pizza

After all, it’s “trick or treat!” That’s why a sweet Halloween pizza can’t be missing! But watch out: this Oreo dessert pizza with cream cheese frosting might be so delicious that even spiders can’t help themselves!

Ingredients (for 1 Oreo pizza)

For the dough you can use any pizza dough recipe from the blog here because the preparation is very simple and straightforward.

  • 250 gr pizza dough (equivalent to one dough ball)
  • 4 Tbsp butter, softened
  • 16 Oreos, crushed

Ingredients (for the frosting)

  • 120 gr cream cheese
  • 4 Tbsp butter, softened
  • 50 gr powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 Tbsp milk

Instructions

  • Flour the work surface and roll out the pizza dough thinly on it with a rolling pin.
  • Spread the dough with the soft butter.
  • Crush the Oreo cookies in a blender or with a hand blender to small crumbs.
  • Then spread the cookie crumbs on the dough.
  • Bake the pizza in a preheated oven at 220 degrees Celsius for 16-18 minutes, until the edges and bottom are browned.
  • In the meantime, make the frosting: In a large bowl, beat cream cheese and butter with a hand mixer until smooth. Add the powdered sugar, vanilla and milk. Mix everything together. Pour the frosting into a freezer bag. Then use a scissor to cut a very small hole in one corner of the bag (I mean really small because otherwise the frosting will come out too thick!).
  • Spread the frosting over the pizza as if you were cutting a pizza into 6 equal pieces. Spread each line over the entire length of the pizza, using even pressure. Then connect the lines with a rounded “U” shape to form three complete circles.
  • And just like that, the cobweb pizza is ready!

6. Pizza-devouring pumpkin

Pizza devouring pumpkin

This Halloween pizza was extremely fun to make! On the one hand, because this pizza deliberately did not have to be round and on the other hand, because it was my first time that I have carved a Halloween pumpkin! What do you say to the result?

Ingredients (for 1 pizza)

For the dough you can use any pizza dough recipe from the blog here because the preparation is very simple and straightforward.

  • 250 gr pizza dough (equivalent to one dough ball)
  • 140 gr tomato sauce
  • 80 gr mozzarella

Tools (for 1 carved pumpkin)

  • 1 large carving pumpkin
  • Sharp knives
  • 1 tablespoon
  • Paper
  • Glue
  • Wax crayon or sharpie

For carving the pumpkin I found this Youtube video very helpful. Please be careful when carving the pumpkin!

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven at least 1 hour before baking (target temperature should be at least 400 degrees).
  • Prepare a bowl or deep plate with semola (flour will work if necessary).
  • Sprinkle the dough piece with a little semola (especially around the edges), and using a spatula, get it out of the box, put it in the bowl/plate with semola and turn it over in it.
  • Then place the dough piece on the work surface and shape it by hand: if possible, starting from the center, press the air bubbles towards the edge and shape it into a round pizza, leaving a border. Please do not use a rolling pin, as this will destroy the air bubbles.
  • Top the pizza.
  • Carefully pull the pizza onto the pizza peel. On the pizza slider, pull one side of the pizza a little lengthwise.
  • Place pizza in oven and bake for about 90 seconds (a little shorter or longer, depending on your own preference and degree of browning).
  • That’s it, the pizza is ready!
